Peter is a very sweet 5 year old boy . He lives with his step mother and biological father and 2 younger siblings, a brother and a sister. His mother died when he was a baby. Peter's step mother says that he is a very healthy boy who has never suffered any bad illnesses. The family manages fine when it comes to food. They manage to eat 3 meals a day, but are grateful for the two meals that Peter gets at school. They are happy that RHO Appleseed has opened because they feel that education is a problem and they could not manage to give Peter a good education if it were not for Appleseed.
For many months we did not see Peter smile and had no idea what a beautiful, toothless smile he has. It has been wonderful to see his personality come bursting through in the past month. It is amazing what sponsorships bring out in these children. I believe that it is not only the fun shopping trip, but it is more about the knowledge that someone cares about them. Recently, Peter has been smiling and playing. He comes up to us, wanting to hold our hands and just be near. He has also become helpful at school. He likes to help hang the work on the walls and tends to hang out after school until he is told that it is time to go home. We have enjoyed getting to know Peter.
