The NEW RHO Appleseed Library and Community Center!
2017 will bring with it many changes for Appleseed Community Center in Bauleni. A few months ago we received the news that we would have to move out of yet another rental building that had become Appleseed’s home. We began the search for the next rental house that we could make work for our purposes. We searched for land for years, but had been unsuccessful in finding something that was affordable and would suit our needs.
We felt so fortunate when our friend, James, found the perfect plot at just the right time! We bought the plot in October and building is almost complete. We have had a soft opening for current Appleseed members with lunch being served two days a week in December and two very special days provided by a few parents from the American School as well as the U.S Marines in Zambia.
The new and permanent site of RHO Appleseed Community Center is scheduled to open with all services and programs in mid -January, 2017!

Appleseed Was Touched by the Spirit of the Season
Thank you so much to Jane Okafor De Raeve for organizing this amazing Christmas lunch, and to so many AISL parents and kids who helped out. They planned to serve 150 lunches. We are told that they served at least that many and were able to offer fruit and cookies to up to 300 people!
Thank You to the US Marines!!
And just 2 days later, Paul got a call from the US embassy. Appleseed was fortunate enough to be the recipients of the US Marine toy drive in Zambia!

June 2016Another exciting and awesome week at Appleseed. One of our staff members, John, had a birthday! Rumba dance crew is getting stronger each day, and, John and I went throwing garbage. Awesome experience!

May 2016This week we had to say goodbye to some amazing volunteers! Thank you to Jill and Julia for your great geography lessons; Kati, for helping us with our math; Adrian. for playing football with us and Sergio, for the computer and administration help! We will miss you all!
