s With the help of renowned Zambian Salsa dancer, Jophael Banda, Appleseed has developed a vibrant and talented dance troupe. Appleseed teachers, Paul and John have learned to teach a variety of dances and continue classes throughout the week.
Classes are held at Appleseed every Sunday at 16:00
Music
The music program is one that has been in flux for quite sometime. We have had an occasional guitar teacher volunteer, but it has been difficult to sustain consistency.
The most successful music program as of yet has been the recorder classes started by Dominique Cottrell, former AISL student. Dominique volunteered regularly for over a year, teaching children how to play the recorder and read music. She has recently graduated and will be attending the University of the Pacific in California. We will miss Dominique, but are so grateful that she brought her love of music to Appleseed. She was so inspiring that teacher Bornface is staying one step ahead of the students and has taken over the class!!
We would love to be able to support regular music lessons at Appleseed. We have 3 guitars, 2 keyboards and recorders. If you would like to help run or support a formal music program at Appleseed, please contact us.
Visual Arts
Children love to draw, paint, glue and build! Over the years we have had a number of volunteers come in to teach drawing or bring a fun crafts project to the kids. This is always an exciting time and kids love to take their projects home to show off or hang them on the Appleseed walls! There can never be enough art!
Singing/Choir
Our kids love to sing! The choir was once an exuberant group of voices. But, as Appleseed grew and changed it was harder to support the program and it eventually faded. We would love to revive a singing program! If you have a love for singing, and would like to give some of your time to share it with others, we would love to start up a formal choir/singing group again!
