THANK YOU to The Athenian School and to Arise Africa!!
For the past 2 years a group students from The Athenian School in Danville, California have supported the students of RHO Appleseed through a fundraiser called 30 Hour Famine. The purpose of the event held by different organizations world wide is to raise money and awareness for world hunger. During the event, for 30 hours, participants must abstain from eating food, and instead they typically drink water, fruit juices, or other liquids. The effort and commitment of these students is inspiring. When we told our Appleseed students about them, they were very surprised that other kids would go hungry to bring awareness and to help others.
Arise Africa, a faith based organization in Texas, is supporting our lunch program for the 2014 school year! Thanks to their generosity we have been able to upgrade our kitchen and serving supplies because we don't have to worry about the lunch budget. Arise Africa helps many needy and deserving schools in Zambia. They also run an orphanage, Angel's Home.
A Big Thank You to Sigtuna Sport Uteliv of Sweden and the Engstrand Family for Making this Happen!
Football shoe donation from Sigtuna Sport Uteliv's kind customers has arrived in Lusaka after minor trouble with customs authorities. 40 pairs of football shoes soon to be handed over to RHO Appleseed School in Bauleni.
We have our official logo for the school! Check it out and read about the wonderful artist who allowed us to use her painting. Thank you Marni Maree!
We had been searching for a logo for the school for awhile when we came across this image on Google Images. We followed the links and discovered that it is an original painting by the artist Marni Maree. We e-mailed her, and she graciously agreed to allow us to use the image as our official logo. We are very appreciative to Ms. Maree for this generous gift to RHO Appleseed Foundation. Please take a minute to visit her website and check out her library of paintings. I think you'll find her work as extraordinary and beautiful as we do. I would especially draw your attention to her paintings based on her visits to Haiti where she volunteers to help the people there.
We will post pictures soon of our new shirts with our logo that we had made for our staff and volunteers. We couldn't be happier, and we can't thank Ms. Maree enough for her support. http://www.marnimaree.com/
