Patrick is a very sweet young man with a wonderful smile. He and his brother, Shadrick work hard to help their aging grandmother take care of their 4 younger siblings. Patrick's father died 8 years ago, in 2004. Life had always been difficult, but following the death of his father, life became extremely hard. Patrick lives with his aging grandmother, his brother Shadrick, sisters, Dorcus, Jenny, Lucy and the baby, who is less than 1 year old. His mother is living but cannot care for the children and doesn't live in the house with them. This family of 7 lives in a tiny 2 roomed house. The grandmother does her best to provide them with food, but, she says that there are days when they must go without because she doesn't have money to feed them.
The children are at RHO Appleseed School because one day the grandmother went to the Bauleni Medical Clinic to try to get food for the baby. She didn't know where else to go. The clinic told her that they could not help. A man overheard. He told her to go to RHO Appleseed and see the Director, Mary. We had help him with medicine for his young son. She went to the school and the children started school the next day. It has been a burdened lifted for this grandmother, because now 5 of the kids get fed twice a day at school. We have also been able to provide food for the family.
Patrick has recently been sponsored and got to go on his shopping trip last weekend. He was all smiles, all day!
